Domestic skills are taught at Coryell Autism Center so that our students know how to take care of themselves and their surroundings regardless of where they are. At the center, we focus on skills which are normally needed during the school and work day. While the center does have a Supported Living Services (SLS) option for eligible students ages 18 and over, and we will consult with families to help them acquire conservatorship, Social Security, and area services, the school itself does not provide in-home programming. However, we maintain a strong relationship with the San Andreas Regional Center and we encourage families to use the regional center to develop the in-home program and supports they need. Students with strong domestic skills will have better living options and a higher quality of life as adults.
